Overview Maps of the Project
Numerous maps, figures and geographic datasets were used during the groundwater study. Existing maps came from a variety of sources and are referenced thoughout this website. New maps ands geographic data sets generated during the study are presented here on the map pages.

Overview of Stafford County Showing the Georeferenced Wells
Terrain, major roads and water bodies and watersheds are shown to provide a context for the study. Quantico Marine Base in the north of the County was not included in the study.
Number of Georeferenced Wells in each Tax Tile
This figure is a simple sum of the wells we were able to bring into the study by the tax tile in which they fall. The strong correlation between few wells and public water supply is not a sampling bias but a representation of what is actually there. The large number of wells on tile 25 is an intentional over-collection to allow for more detailed analysis in a rapidly developing part of the County.

Wells Supplying Large Groups of People
The specific catagories are:
- Community Water Systems (ex: mobile home parks)
- Non-Transient Non-Community Water Systems - (ex: schools)
- Transient Non-Community Water Systems - (ex: hotels)
Surprisingly it was difficult to find any information at all about these wells. The wells shown come from the EPA EnviroFacts website. The VDH Culpeper office had most of these referenced but no log information. None of the sources provided locations. The telephone yellow pages and tax records were used to put these on the map.
