Data Sources

Stafford County Ground Water Resource Protection Plan, 1994, by GKY and Associates, 1994, commonly referred to as ‘The DRASTIC Study’.
The report's data tables were scanned and passed through OCR software. The grid of cells covering the County (each 3500’ on a side, covering about 281 acres) were recreated. The data tables were then joined to the cells allowing a more intuitive color representation of the maps that are contained in the report.

Stafford County Ground Water Pollution Potential Map

The original Figure-3 contours the final DRASTIC index (Fig-11) into three ranges, (<125, 125-149, >150) low, medium and high ground water pollution potential. Here the index contours are recalculated and instead of three colors a blue to red color stretch is applied. However this is a qualitative methodology and only the three general ranges are intended by the report.
